Young and fashionable Tony Ma, born and raised in England but now studying Law at Wuhan University in Central China, is edging to dismantle the traditional barriers which interfere with his social life. His nineteen-year-old girl friend Xiao Bai describes herself as a traditional Chinese woman, or more accurately, a more traditional than not. She seems open to persuasion. But Tony meets his match in Bai Fang, Xiao Bai's grandmother.
